“It is heartbreaking that before our eyes, more than one hundred thousand Nigerians have been killed by these terrorists and are still killing.”
Tears flowed on Monday, 23rd of May 2022 as members of the Boko Haram sect launched a large-scale attack in Rann, the headquarters of Kala-Balge Local Government Area of Borno State, killing over 60 farmers.
Reacting to the traumatic event during a news briefing, the convener of Concerned Nigerians, Activist Deji Adeyanju, while lamenting the spate of killings and insecurity in the country, described the killing of 60 farmers in Borno state as a “sad reminder to Nigerians not to allow any politician who will not prioritise their security and wellbeing over personal and party interests.”
Speaking further, Mr Adeyanju recalled that Boko Haram terrorists have carried out similar attacks in the state, beheading farmers and their families for cooperating with the military and other intelligence forces.
“It is heartbreaking that before our eyes, more than one hundred thousand Nigerians have been killed by these terrorists and are still killing. In Borno State, they are known to be serial killers every time and walk away with it.”
He also challenged the government to put an end to the killings if they have no hand in it, calling on the president and security agents to sit up.
“A group of armed terrorists cannot hold a country like Nigeria that has everything it takes to protect its citizens from these monsters. It is either the government is profiting from this tragedy or they simply are indifferent.”
Finally, he charged Nigerians to get their PVCs and vote wisely for their peace and security, and not allow wicked politicians who profit from war and terrorism to smell any political office.
