John Kinghorn Scholarship in Engineering 2023

Those who want to pursue a master’s degree at Sussex in the engineering department may apply for the John Kinghorn Scholarship. Three scholarships are offered, but one of them is only open to female applicants to increase the number of women studying STEM fields. Applicants who have been offered a place to pursue a master’s degree in engineering are eligible for this award.

Support is provided to students who are underrepresented in higher education through the Widening Participation team at Sussex. They can assist students in making wise decisions about their future. The University of Sussex is rated third among UK universities that are committed to sustainability, and 55th globally for overall sustainability performance. In terms of their influence on the environment, they are placed 35th globally in the 2023 QS Sustainability Report.

Additionally, many of their plans and policies from throughout our University include sustainability concerns.

Due to the exceptional caliber of its education and the university’s financial assistance in the form of fellowships and scholarships, the University of Sussex became one of the most well-known universities in the world. The John Kinghorn Scholarship in Engineering is one of the programs the University of Sussex has launched to help students with their postsecondary studies. The award is mainly intended for students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Both local and foreign students may get scholarships from the University of Sussex. Exclusively the University of Sussex offers a degree, which is only given based on merit. Students get the award only once a year; it is not renewable.

The John Kinghorn Scholarship in Engineering is only available to three students, one of whom must be a woman.

  • Students will get a tuition fee reduction and an amount of £10,000.


To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must have been offered and accepted a full-time place on an Engineering degree commencing in September 2023.

  • To be considered for the scholarship, you will need to submit a personal statement. The statement will be assessed on the following:
    • academic interests relating to your chosen degree
    • future career plans related to your chosen field of study
    • your entrepreneurial spirit and aspirations
