As the new year begins, we are dusting off the crystal ball to see how trends, technology, and economic projections might help freelancers prepare for 2023. 2022 was difficult for self-employed people. In recent months, firms have posted fewer job postings due to inflation, raising anxieties and doubts. Despite the severe shortage of competent labor, this is the case.
However, highly skilled IT workers might find well-paid work in companies, giving self-employed people hope for the future. This makes self-employed individuals optimistic. The freelancing business will be shaped by the changing labor market, where corporations may find it cheaper to hire freelancers for certain tasks than full-time workers.
Flexjobs has updated us on remote work trends, as usual. These advancements should inform our 2018 career choices. FlexJobs saw a 20% rise in remote job ads in 2022 compared to 12% in 2021. Remote employment also led to more job titles and professional levels. Manager and senior-level jobs made up 32% of remote work opportunities, even though experienced-level jobs made up 62%. The remaining 6% of job openings were entry-level.
